Legal solutions, Practical Resolutions

Greg Holtz was born in Oregon and raised in the High Desert of Southern California before he matriculated at Dartmouth College.  Graduating cum laude in 2005 with a Major in Philosophy, Greg returned to California, where he joined Teach For America in Oakland.  After five years at his placement school teaching 8th Grade English, he enrolled at U.C. Berkeley Law, where he was involved in La Raza Law Journal, East Bay Community Law Center, and Centro Legal de la Raza Worker’s Rights and Employment Clinics.  After graduating in 2013, he became a staff attorney at Legal Services of Northern California, and then, in 2021, the Managing Attorney of the Redwood Regional Office.  Since 2023, Greg has been building a boutique private practice in the field of municipal law as well as branching out to Alberta.  Greg enjoys biking, hiking, snowboarding, and cooking when he is not lawyering.

Municipal LAw

From the Brown Act to the General Plan, cities and counties must follow a variety of rules as they fulfill their obligations to their constituents and implement their goals.

LAnd Use

The Housing Element Law, Surplus Lands Act, and California Environmental Quality Act are just a few of the laws that govern development in California and that can throw a wrench in development if not implemented correctly.

Non-Profit LAw

Legal non-profits, including high-volume clinics, operate in unique regulatory and ethical spaces with rules that are often incongruous with the mission and methods of the organization.
